The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to improve runways at seven airports throughout the nation by March 2022, senior officers mentioned on Sunday.
These seven airports are at Jammu (J&Okay), Kolhapur (Maharashtra), Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh), Barapani (Meghalaya), Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) and Tuticorin (Tamil Nadu), the AAI officers advised PTI.

Officers defined that the runway of an airport is designed for a specific kind of plane, relying on site visitors demand and different elements.
“Because the site visitors will increase, the airline operators need to function greater plane from the airport. At the moment, the runway needs to be upgraded to make it appropriate for that goal,” mentioned an official.
The runway on the Barapani airport will likely be “prolonged and strengthened” by December this 12 months, the officers said, including that the Kadapa airport’s runway can be being “prolonged and strengthened” and the work will likely be performed by March 2021.
They mentioned the runway on the Tirupati airport will likely be prolonged from the present size of two,286 metres to three,810 metres by December 2021.
